There are lights up everywhere. More than there were before. Houses with lit-up snowmen in the front gardens, and green laser dots scooting over the front windows, and animated reindeer and trees covered in dusty white stuff. One house has a pair of legs sticking out of the chimney, wearing red trousers, slowly waving back and forth. That just makes me think how horrible it would be to be stuck like that. In the dark, upside-down, face full of dirt and soot, and everyone thinking it was a joke.
