There’s a letter waiting for me at the foot of my bed when I wake up. Donald or Maisie must have snuck in and put it there before I woke up, just like they do with easter eggs or when I lose a tooth. I rip the envelope open and inside there is a letter back from Santa.

Dear LUKE,

Thank you for writing such a lovely letter to me! Me and my elves have been so very busy this holiday season, working away on toys and games for little boys and girls like yourself this Christmas!

I hear that you want AN XBOX AND A SCOOTER for Christmas this year! Well, I can’t promise anything, but I shall certainly be checking my list! I do hope you’ve been a good little boy or girl this year!

Santa Claus

I read it over and stare at it for a long time. I have absolutely no idea where it has come from, or what it's supposed to be for. I fold it up and put it on the little shelf with my advent calendar. I can hear Maisie and Donald bumbling around downstairs, making breakfast. When I go down there they'll ask me about the letter. I know they will, but I don't know what I'm going to say.
