Donald keeps his car very neat. It's a big grey car where every bit of it is round and smooth, and he cleans it at least once a month even in winter. He hoovers the inside and wipes the dashboard and puts the hose over the gate so that he can wash it down.

Inside everything is neat. The glove compartment has a bag of extra strong mints and a book of maps and a big metal flashlight and nothing else. There is a folded rag in the seat pocket for wiping the insides of the windows. When we have to go somewhere on a cold day he always says I can do this, because I think he thinks I like it. I don't.

In the back, two of the three seatbelts are always fastened over empty seats. I don't think those seats have ever, ever been used.
