For several years I performed as a typewriter busker during the Edinburgh Festival Fringe. I sat on the street with an old mechanical typewriter manufactured in West Berlin and wrote poems for anyone and everyone based on a short conversation, or whatever topic they chose.

It was one of several projects I’ve made that worked entirely by donation. It was a lot of fun, and extremely interesting to create so many different works under pressure, and to see what people wanted poems about!

I don’t busk any more, but I’d encourage anyone interested in writing and poetry to give it a shot.
