Days Necrotic

A man wakes up after his wife’s funeral to find her in his shower, not quite alive and not quite dead. Unable to face the prospect of returning her to the grave, he instead hides her in the garage.

To my immense surprise this story won the 2011 Manchester Fiction Prize, administered by the writing school at Manchester Metropolitan University.

A few years later the story was reprinted in my chapbook When You Lived Inside the Walls, published by Stonewood Press, which contains all my best, weirdest short stories, and is basically pocket-sized too.

As with a lot of my short fiction, I have released this story into the public domain. This means you can use it any way you like, including making a profit from it. Let me know if you do anything interesting with it!
