All You Can Eat

I’ve uploaded a short, interactive text about food and the strange process of eating. It is called “All You Can Eat”, can be read freely online, and lasts about two minutes.

“All You Can Eat” began as a short play that never quite worked. Its current format was the result of a few hours spent playing with HTML. It was put together mostly in Notepad++, with images taken from freeimages.com.

Some fun facts about eating: the average person produces nearly two litres of saliva every day, and consumes almost five hundred kilograms of food per year. It takes seven seconds for food to pass down the oesophagus into the stomach, where it can remain for several days. During a lifetime, about fifty tonnes of food will pass through the average digestive system.
